Vermont's Comprehensive Energy Plan: 90% by 2050!
Asa Hopkins, Director of Energy Policy and Planning at the Vermont Public Service Department
Asa Hopkins is the Director of Energy Policy and Planning at the Vermont Public Service Department. Before joining PSD, he worked at the United States Department of Energy for Under Secretary for Science Steven Koonin, serving as Dr. Koonin’s assistant project director for the DOE’s Quadrennial Technology Review. Before that he worked as an analyst at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, providing economic and technical analysis of federal energy efficiency standards for appliances. He earned a B.S., summa cum laude, in Physics from Haverford College and an M.S. and Ph.D, both in Physics, from the California Institute of Technology. He joined the PSD in October, 2011. Asa will discuss Vermont's 2011 Comprehensive Energy Plan that sets the ambitious goal for the state of obtaining 90% of the energy consumed in state from renewable sources by the year 2050.
