CEF 2014 Call for Proposals- 1/9/15 Extension

The University of Vermont’s Clean Energy Fund is seeking proposals for its 2014-2015 Clean Energy Futures Lecture/Workshop Series. Funding is available for departments, students, and/or faculty interested in organizing lectures, workshops, or other similar events on topics related to clean energy. Of particular interest to the fund are proposals that seek to bring external speakers and perspectives to the UVM campus. Proposals for events involving UVM faculty are welcome, as well. 

Applications are due by midnight on January 9, 2015

Guidelines for Lecture Proposals

Any lecture or lecture series must have a guaranteed student audience and be open to all students.

The preference is for the CEF to partner with other departments and/or existing lecture series to offer these events, to serve a source of supplemental funding. Lecture proposals must define anticipated positive effects on UVM efforts to meet climate change and clean energy goals.

Possible events include: 
Talks and lectures, symposia, forums, hands-on and conceptual workshops 

Possible topics include: 
Biomass (woody and non-woody); Biofuels (algae-based and non-algae based); Smart Grids and Decentralized Production; Solar & Wind Energy; Coupled Agricultural-Energy Production; Market, Demand-side, and Energy Efficiency Innovations; Developing Technologies (i.e. piezoelectrics, tidal energy); Energy Policy and History; Energy and Transportation; Energy and Food; Energy and Society

Costs eligible for coverage: 
Speaker honoraria and travel expenses; University AV and facilities services; Food and catering; Workshop supplies; Compensation for organizer(s) 
CEF Funds will cover up to 50% of the event costs. The remaining funds must come from other sources (i.e. academic departments, university offices, external sources). In some cases exceptions may be made at the discretion of the CEF committee.
