Fellows Program Description

The SFF Program seeks to develop a learning community—a multidisciplinary faculty cohort engaged in a yearlong exploration of sustainability, the scholarship of teaching, learning, collaboration and community building.

The cornerstone of this program is a two-day January institute, held at the scenic Orchard Cove House at Shelburne Farms and UVM’s GreenHouse Residential Hall. The program will be rooted in our campus and regional landscape. Fellows will engage in a rich mix of dialogue, reflection, writing, and critical thinking to explore how sustainability concepts can be integrated into their teaching.

Four major topics will be addressed:

  • Definitions of sustainability
  • Course design strategies
  • Interdisciplinary thinking and teaching
  • Student learning and attitudes about sustainability
