CEF Lecture Series: 2013 Energy Action Seminar

Project Timeline:
September, 2013 to December, 2013
Project Progress:
100%

This is a seminar series on renewable energy to include speakers focused on U.S. and global renewable energy programs and Vermont state programs and organizations. Energy is a major impact on society, both in how we use it and how we extract it, contributing, for example, from 30 to 40 percent of our total greenhouse gases. One way to address these environmental impacts is to move to renewable energy sources. Across the US, a variety of renewable energy programs and policies are proposed. At the same time, Vermont is a leader in this area with a state Comprehensive Energy Plan that directsthe state to move to 90 percent renewable energy by 2050.

The second component of this series is a special topics ENVS/CDAE 1-credit course. Students received credit for attending the seminars, joining in post seminar discussions, and writing a seminar paper integrating some aspect of the seminar series into a paper.
