University of Vermont

January Orientation

January Orientation

January Orientation is for both new first-year students and transfer students. The program provides you with an opportunity to learn the requirements of your academic unit, meet with a faculty advisor to plan/review your courses, register or adjust your course schedule and become familiar with campus life. The program activities are designed to prepare you to begin classes on Monday, January 14th, 2013.

If you have paid your acceptance fee to the Admissions Office and you are a new first-year student, a transfer student from another institution, or a transfer student from UVM's Continuing Education, you will find the Orientation program an important step in starting your academic career at the University of Vermont.

Registration for January Orientation is now open! Click here.

Students are welcome to bring a parent/family member/friend to most parts of the program. There is a $5 fee per guest, payable at the door. Orientation is free for students.

Registering for Spring Courses

The online course registration process allows you to register for spring classes prior to attending January Orientation. Although you are not required to do so, this option allows you to create your course schedule at your earliest convenience. At Orientation, an advisor will be available, if needed, to help you review and finalize your schedule. You will soon receive materials from your Dean’s office with complete instructions on this process, including course selection information.

Parking

Parking for January O attendees is available in the Jeffords Parking lot, located next to the Davis Center. A parking permit is required and can be printed here. Please do not use this permit to park in the numbered pay station parking spots.

Living on campus

If you plan to or are required to live on campus, you must complete a request for housing through the Department of Residential Life.

Orientation participants who have been assigned a room will be permitted to move in on Friday, January 11th from 8am – 4pm. Students must check in at the main desk of the complex they have been assigned to. Students living on campus should make sure they have gotten their CatCard (student I.D. card) before moving in, as they will need this to enter their residence hall.

Housing questions? Contact Residential Life at reslife@uvm.edu or 802.656.3434.
