About SSDP and the UVM Chapter:

Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP) is committed to providing education on harms caused by the War on Drugs, working to involve youth in the political process, and promoting an open, honest, and rational discussion of alternative solutions to our nation's drug problems.

Since its birth three years ago, SSDP is now represented on over 200 campuses across the nation.  The largest focal point has been opposition of the Drug Free Student Aid Provision, which was part of a 1998 amendment of the Higher Education Act.   This law denies any form of federal financial aid to students who have ever been convicted of a drug-related crime, including simple possession.

SSDP at the University of Vermont (UVM) was officially recognized by the UVM Student Senate in Fall of 2002.  To be added to our email list for meeting announcements, please contact Larry Clarfeld
