Day 3 Wildcat, NH.
The Doctor's Story
Midweek ticket price of 19.00.
Located across the road from Mount Washington. First trail (Wildcat) cut in the 30's
by the CCC. They knew how to cut a trail back then. Fresh powder (a foot) and ungroomed
trails (on the two black diamonds that were open). Nicely groomed cruisers (or as
the ski-monster put it-the most fun he'd had on a green circle trail in a long time).
It was hard to believe they'd been closed for the week before. Small area but lots
of fun - zero run out - the lifts are right at the base. Has an old gondola (one
of the first in the east, if not the first in the east) which wasn't running but you can
take 2 chairs and get to the same place. Clouds cleared and you could stand on the
top and look UP at the peak of Washington, and at Tuckerman Ravine. Trip is looking better.
Move on to Sunday River in Bethel Maine.
