Bleah. A fun place in good weather, but it was not. Any
images of the mountain found here
were snapped in 1993, on a classically sunny day. If you want a rosier
picture of the place, there's a whole slew of commercial info on the web
regarding Les Deux Alpes.
mountain was closed above the top of the Jardi Express at 3200m
(10560'); thus, the glacier skiing was closed, too. Not that the glacier represents
grand skiing -- in fact, it's rather green -- but the funicular up to it
is fun, and I really wanted to rack up a 7000'+ descent. Oh, well.
wind was whipping at 40-50 mph. Snow. Clouds. Visibility near zero. White out.
I hurt. Too many Pellforthe brunes
the night before.
I was having no fun. Got stuck at the bottom of the
Petite Aigulle Téléski for 20 minutes. Too many people skiing too few pistes.
They closed the Jardi Express lift at around 2:00 PM, which wiped out skiing
above 2600m, which sent more crowds to the bottom. The snow at the bottom was hard
and not much fun.
Well, at least it was snowing, so there should be
powder somewhere tomorrow. If I can see it.
