I  have visited Puerto Cabezas many times since the 1980s, meeting people and learning more each visit about this unique Atlantic coast community. In 1994 I exhibited 40 images at the Casa de Cultura in downtown Bilwi, and operated a mobil photo studio in the back making photo postcards for interested people and families. Making portraits is a way of getting to know people, and below are some of the photographs from that show.
