Building-Specific Safety Features

Laboratory buildings vary widely across campus. Thus, it's essential for laboratory staff to understand each building's unique features. Standardized features across all lab buildings include:

  • Fire alarm pull stations
  • Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
  • Eyewash, drench hose and/or safety shower units

Some laboratory buildings at UVM have building-specific lab safety features. Please see the features described for each building listed below. The laboratory safety officer or the PI/Supervisor should review these features and their locations with each lab member, particularly new staff or visitors joining the group. Environmental Health & Safety can provide lab-specific training to ensure users understand these building-specific differences.
