Victoria Carhart

Victoria Carhart, Laboratory Safety Coordinator


Vikki joined Risk Management & Safety in June 2012.  She is currently finishing a Masters Degree in Chemistry from UVM.  Vikki is the Laboratory Safety Coordinator for the College of Arts and Sciences, overseeing Marsh Life Sciences, Angell Lecture Center, Cook Physical Sciences, Delehanty, Dewey Hall, Torrey, Wheeler House, Royall Tyler Theater, Williams Hall, and Living/Learning studios.

Francis Churchill,
Assistant Director of Risk Management & Safety for Health & Safety


Francis has worked for Risk Management & Safety in many different roles.  In 2011, he was promoted to the Senior Associate Director for Health & Safety at UVM. He now oversees all aspects of Environmental, Health & Safety at UVM.  Francis participates in hazmat emergency planning  at both UVM and at the County level. He served as the chair of the Chittenden County Local Emergency Planning Committee for 8 years.

Lee Diamond,
Laboratory Safety Coordinator


Lee worked at UVM for 9 years as an Environmental Safety Technician,working as a team to manage and track campus generated hazardous waste and delivering ChemSource orders to campus labs. In 2006, Lee moved into the positon of Laboratory Safety Coordinator for the College of Engineering and Mathematical Science (CEMS) and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS), which includes working with individuals and groups conducting activities at the UVM farms. 

Sonia Godoy Tundidor

Sonia Godoy Tundidor, Laboratory Safety Coordinator


Dr. Sonia Godoy Tundidor received her Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the University of Innsbruck, Austria.  She then worked as a prostate cancer researcher in the United States. Sonia joined Risk Management & Safety in 2011 as the Assistant Biosafety Coordinator. She is currently the Laboratory Safety Coordinator for the College of Medicine and the College of Nursing & Health Sciences. Sonia is a Specialist Microbiologist in Biological Safety [SM(NRCM)] and a Certified Biological Safety Professional (CBSP). 

Brian Hodge,
Environmental Safety Technician


Brian joined UVM with 10 years of experience working at the Chittenden Solid Waste District's Environmental Depot. There he worked with households and small businesses to manage their hazardous waste. At UVM, Brian works as a team managing and tracking campus generated hazardous waste and delivering ChemSource orders to campus laboratories.

Jeff LaBossiere,
Biological Safety Officer


Jeff began working for Risk Management & Safety in February 2006 after 12 years of working in the biotech industry. Jeff supervises and works in conjunction with the Biosafety Coordinator, Sarah Roy. Together, they continue to develop and improve UVM's Biosafety Program in cooperation with the Office of Sponsored Programs the Office of Animal Care and Use Management and the Office of Risk Management and Safety. Jeff and Sarah directly support researchers who work with rDNA and or any potentially biohazardous agents on campus.  He is a member of the UVM IBC and IACUC committee's.  Jeff is a Registered Biosafety Professional (RPB) and member of the American Biological Safety Association (ABSA).

Theresa Gorman, Occupational Safety & Health Specialist


Theresa joined Risk Management & Safety in January 2017.  She has worked in the public health field for 9 years.  She holds an MPH in industrial hygiene from the University of Michigan and is a member of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA).  Theresa coordinates UVM Occupational Health Programs, designs and implements safety programs for UVM workplaces and offices, and participates in near miss and incident investigations.



John Marcus,
UVM Fire Marshal


John came to UVM in 2005 after serving 21 years with the Burlington Fire Department.  He has a degree in Fire Science Technology, is a Certified Fire Protection Specialist and a Charter Member of the Center for Campus Fire Safety.  John is responsible for a wide range of fire and life safety issues including code compliance, incident management, and fire safety education and training.

Brian Medor,
Environmental Safety Technician


Brian has worked in the hazardous waste industry for more than a decade. He manages all laboratory and campus hazardous and Universal wastes. Brian is responsible for making sure the collection and disposal of UVM's hazardous waste is in  compliance with a variety of government regulations. Brian works closely with commercial vendors and end disposal sites.

Sarah Roy

Biosafety Coordinator


Sarah has worked in and managed research laboratories for the past 8 years.  She is a member of ABSA and is a practicing cryptozoologist.  She has been studing and tracking local Sasquatch for over 10 years.  When she's not tracking hairy beasts, she oversees the Biohazardous Waste Program, the Biosafety Cabinet Certification Program, Is a member of the UVM IBC, assists with IBC protocol reviews, is a member of the IACUC committe, reviews all IACUC protocols and and is responsible for safety within UVM animal care and use facilities.

Jeff Rogers,
Environmental Compliance Program Manager


Jeff joined the Risk Management & Safety staff in 2008 with 5 years experience in occupational health and safety within UVM's Physical Plant Department.  Jeff previously worked as the Laboratory Safety Coordinator.  In 2012, he became the Environmental Compliance Program Manager.  Jeff oversees general University compliance with environmental regulations, particularly hazardous waste and air pollution permit compliance.
