Contrary to the popular belief, farms are not free of hazards. Every year, thousands of farm workers are injured and hundreds more die in farming accidents. According to the National Safety Council, agriculture is the most hazardous industry in the nation.
UVM provides several unique agricultural settings where an assortment of farm and field research activities are taking place. Although field and research activities frequently change, each location has its own unique set of hazards of which users must become aware. Any on-site training that is provided must be documented. Farm-specific trainings are also available by contacting safety@uvm.edu
