A Note from Staff Council President Karmen Swim
- By Karmen Swim
Well that year certainly flew by – not sure where it went, but I do know many great things have happened (and I anticipate over the next year will continue to happen) within the Staff Council.
I want to acknowledge the great work by your elected Staff Council representatives. A BIG thank you to each of them and I encourage you to please take a moment to thank them for their service as well. At the Staff Council End-of-Year Luncheon yesterday, we recognized three representatives for particularly excellent work over the previous year. Steve Lunna was the winner of the LEAF Award for leadership and advocacy, Brendan Andrews was the winner of the Rock Award for constant dedication to Staff Council’s mission, and Stephanie Loscalzo was the winner of the Yearling Award for outstanding service in her first year as a representative.
We have a few seats still available on Staff Council for the fall. We need one representative each from CAS, Rubenstein, HRDMA, and CEMS. We would love to have you be part of the Council, so please take a moment to submit an application and get involved!
Remember, Staff Council's Social Committee has put together some fun evenings for the summer. I hope you can participate in them. We’ve got the Lake Monsters Game on June 23rd, the Golf Outing on July 28th, and of course our ongoing discount ticket sales for the Champlain Valley Fair! See the sidebar for more information on participating in these events.
Please do stay in touch with us over the summer months either by reaching out to the Staff Council office, with me directly or with your unit representative(s). We should all take these summer months to recharge, energized to come back in the fall to continue the Council’s work to be the voice for and to advocate for the University staff.
Enjoy the sunshine and all that Vermont offers…and I wish happy vacations to you as well!
