A Note from Staff Council President Renee Berteau
- By Staff Council Office
Dear University of Vermont and State Agricultural College staff,
This will be my final Staffline letter to you, as my term ends June 30. Reflecting on my two years as Staff Council President, and my two years prior as Staff Council Vice President, I’d like to share a few thoughts:
- I thank each one of you who took the time to email me about something I wrote; I appreciate your time and your willingness to share your thoughts.
- Staff at UVM are an equal partner with faculty in providing a valuable UVM education and experience to our students.
- Staff Council is fortunate to have staff representatives who are passionate, care about their coworkers, and care about the University of Vermont. Our representatives are fortunate to have staff in their units who share thoughts and concerns, so that the representatives are able to include your voice in our work during the year.
- Staff care about making our community an inclusionary place, and I thank each of you who spend time educating us about the perspectives of others and awareness of our own viewpoints. And I thank each of you who continue to learn ways that you can make our community welcoming and open for all.
We’re all busy, so I won’t go on. But I truly appreciate the great staff of the University of Vermont, and thank you again for all you do for your department, your students, your faculty, your administrators, the public and the State of Vermont. I would like to thank Johanna Brabham, outgoing Staff Council Vice President, for her wisdom, candor, and positive spirit. You will be in capable hands under the new Staff Council President, Karmen Swim, the new Staff Council Vice President, Bethany Wolfe, and the outstanding Staff Council Office staff, Meryl St. John and Amy Gilman.
