UVM Theatre presents Noises Off

Noises Off opens Wednesday, February 24 on the Royall Tyler stage

Looking for a laugh? Come see Noises Off!

Called “the funniest farce ever written” this uproarious play-within-a-play follows a dysfunctional theatre company as they blunder through a failing dress rehearsal to a disastrous opening performance. Watch what happens as lines are missed, sardines are forgotten, love triangles unravel, and doors slam in all the wrong places. Their hysterical on- and off-stage antics are the perfect recipe for a laugh filled evening of theatre.

The New York Times calls Noises Off …"The most dexterously realized comedy ever about putting on a comedy. A spectacularly funny, peerless backstage farce.

The New York Daily News says …"Bumper car brilliance...If laughter is indeed the best medicine, Noises Off is worth its weight in Cipro." –

And not to be out done, the New York Post says …"The funniest farce ever written! Never before has side-splitting taken on a meaning dangerously close to the non-metaphorically medical.”

All of these critics can’t be wrong.  Nominated for a Tony Award for best play Noises Off is the perfect cure for the winter blues.

Directed by Dept. of Theatre faculty member Sarah Carleton, Noises Off will feature UVM Theatre students Kaitie Bessette (Urinetown & Our Town), Ellis Burgin (Our Town, Much Ado About Nothing & Marat/Sade), Elizabeth Callahan (Little Women, Much Ado About Nothing & The 39 Steps), Christian DeKett (The 39 Steps), Peter Hiebert (Urinetown, Grand Night for Singing, Much Ado About Nothing & Marat/Sade) Sarah Kolozsvary (The 39 Steps) Luke Lakea (Urinetown, Much Ado About Nothing & The 39 Steps), Ceara Ledwith (The Mousetrap, Urinetown, Grand Night for Singing & Marat/Sade) Jeff Renaud (Little Women & The Toys Take Over Christmas).
