A Note from Staff Council President Renee Berteau
- By Staff Council Office
Staff keep UVM running! I write this as I juggle my own workload, thinking of each of you reading this doing the same. Though my note this month will be short, in this season of giving thanks, I thank each of you for the work you do on behalf of this great place, the University of Vermont and State Agricultural College.
Please join us at our Staff Council Holiday Bazaar and Food Drive on Wednesday, December 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A good place to start (or finish!) your holiday shopping. This fundraising event makes many of our social events possible, and we set a record each year with the amount of food we collect for the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf. I have the pleasure to announce that on December 18, Staff Council will welcome a new Staff Council Administrator – Meryl St. John, who comes to us from the Center for Health and Well Being. As Staff Council President, the Administrator is such a crucial person to help remind me of upcoming deadlines, prioritize issues for staff, and keep me on track. For Staff Council, the Administrator is a tireless advocate for staff, supports committee work and events, and helps us maintain our relationships with senior leaders. Please feel free to stop in the Staff Council office after December 18 to introduce yourself to Meryl and welcome her to this important role.
And finally, I’d like to publicly thank Amy Gilman, Staff Council Program Support, for keeping Staff Council moving while we searched and hired a replacement Administrator. From October 30 through December 18, Amy smoothly continued the work of Staff Council, kept us on task, all while being one of the primary planners of our Holiday Bazaar. From the bottom of my heart, Amy, thank you.
