A Note from President Tom Sullivan
- By President Tom Sullivan
On October 2, 2015, the University of Vermont launched the public phase of Move Mountains, The Campaign for the University of Vermont. I was delighted that many of you joined us at the launch event in the Davis Center on that afternoon.
This was an historic weekend for the University when we announced the $500 million goal for the campaign, which will last until 2019. We were excited to announce that so far we have raised over $240 million toward our goal. This is the largest and most ambitious fundraising campaign in the University’s 225 year history. We also announced several significant gifts to the University, most notably the naming of the largest gift in the University’s history from Steve Grossman and the Grossman Family Foundation to the School of Business, now called the Grossman School of Business.
The Move Mountains campaign is about people, great ideas, and learning. With the success of this Campaign, we will see the transformation of our University. We are all fortunate to work at this special place, surrounded by some of the most stunning natural beauty in the nation, at a University that has been quietly yet steadily achieving excellence. At the conclusion of the campaign, the University of Vermont will be a remarkably stronger university.
I hope that every member of the University of Vermont community knows that they have a role in ensuring the success of the Move Mountains campaign. And, when we celebrate the completion of the campaign in 2019, we will celebrate, as a community, acknowledging our collective successful efforts.
Many thanks to each of you,
