College of Education Hosts a Night of Music and Dance
Free Performance October 29 at the UVM Recital Hall
- By Jacqueline Drouin
During the last week of October, the music, dance and culture of Inner Mongolia will come to Burlington as part of on ongoing academic educational exchange between the College of Education and Social Services and the Arts College of Inner Mongolia University (ACIMU). The exchange, which supports global learning, has allowed music and dance faculty and students from both universities to visit each other's country and to share ideas and learn from and about each other.
The delegation of dance and music faculty and students from ACIMU will host workshops in Burlington elementary and high schools in order to provide Vermont students the opportunity to learn about the musical instruments of Inner Mongolia, such as the horsehair fiddle, and to learn the traditional dances of the region. UVM and ACOMU music and dance students will also have the opportunity to collaborate on music and dance workshops at Department of Music. On the evening of October 29, the College of Education invites the UVM and Burlington community to a free final performance by the musicians and dancers at the UVM Recital Hall at 7:30pm.
For more information on the exchange, or to request special accomodations for the free performance on October 29, please contact (802) 656-7985 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
