The Center on Aging at the University of Vermont has announced a gift in the amount of $25,000 from local philanthropist Gregg Beldock, President of Bullrock Corporation. Mr. Beldock’s generous gift was presented to the Center on Aging this week. “This gift will allow the Center to continue its mission to promote well-being and a high quality of life for older adults here in Vermont,” said Dr. William Pendlebury, Director of the Center. The funds for this year will be applied toward the Center on Aging annual fellowship in gerontology and geriatrics. This year’s fellow is Elizabeth Saxton, who is pursuing her masters in nursing science. The fellowship provides funding for graduate students engaged in the study of gerontology and geriatrics. Established through a $5 million gift from Burlington philanthropist Lois Howe McClure, the Center on Aging at the University of Vermont was launched in July 2008. Its mission is to coordinate and support collaborative education, policy-making activities, and research in gerontology and geriatrics.
