Alice Schermerhorn, assistant professor of psychology, published a paper in the journal Child Development. The article, “Temperament Moderates Associations Between Exposure to Stress and Children's Externalizing Problems,” is currently online and forthcoming in print. Schermerhorn and her colleagues found that children who tend to be both fearful in novel situations and to be low in self-regulation are more likely than other children to have behavior problems when exposed to stress.
