UVM athlete featured in the You Can Play project

You Can Play partners with America East to promote LGB athletic inclusion

The You Can Play project is an organization with a simple but powerful message: if you're a skilled enough athlete to compete, it shouldn't matter whether you're gay or straight. You Can Play works to change the culture of sports and eliminate homophobia. For the first time, You Can Play has officially partnered with the America East Conference. The two organizations will now work together to ensure that all institutions in the Conference provide a fair and inclusive environment for all their athletes, regardless of sexual orientation.

To promote the partnership, America East has released a video featuring UVM athlete Kaleigh Wood, from our cross-country team. Kaleigh has previously been featured in UVM's news for her efforts to make UVM's sports teams a welcoming place for out athletes, and was awarded the Provost's Courage Award in recognition of her success.
