Two CNHS Students Receive Prestigious Summer Research Awards

Two students from the College of Nursing and Health Sciences will be pursuing research this summer courtesy of Undergraduate Research Awards from the UVM Office of Undergraduate Research. Jennifer Chenette, a second-year Exercise and Movement Science student, and Chris Cardona, a third-year Medical Laboratory Science student, have been named recipients of these prestigious awards.

Jennifer will be working with Dr. Sharon Henry on a project titled "Movement System Impairment of Subjects with Low Back Pain." Chris' project is titled "Exploring the Effect of Tyrosine Phosphorylation on Allosteric Regulation of the Catalytic Subunit of Protein Kinase A." He will be working in the lab of Dr. Paula Deming. Both students will be sharing their findings at the 2013 UVM Student Research Conference. Students work on their research for ten weeks over the summer. The awards provide a stipend and funding for supplies.
