Three CNHS Students Named 2012 McNair Summer Research Scholars

Three students from the College of Nursing and Health Sciences have been named 2012 McNair Summer Research Fellows. Tony Jiang '13, Mukta Mukta '13 and Jillian Tanych '13, will be working with a faculty mentor on a summer research project that helps prepares them for doctoral study. The national program, introduced at UVM in 2004, aims to increase the number of first-generation, limited-income and underrepresented minority students who earn a doctoral degree. UVM named ten McNair Summer Research Fellows from across the university. The CNHS students and their faculty mentors are below:

  • Tony Jiang; medical laboratory sciences; Christopher Berger, associate professor of molecular physiology and biophysics
  • Mukta Mukta; professional nursing; Sarah Abrams, associate professor of nursing
  • Jillian Tanych; exercise and movement science; Connie Tompkins, assistant professor of rehabilitation and movement science
