Vermont returns to action on Tuesday against its second straight Big East opponent, as the Cats travel to face Providence (3-1) with a 7 p.m. tip-off. UVM (2-1) is coming off only its second victory in school history over a Big East school after knocking off Rutgers in its last time out.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Four Catamounts reached double figures led by a career-high 19 points from junior Evan Fjeld (Durham, N.C.) as the Vermont men’s basketball team earned only its second victory over a Big East team in school history, downing Rutgers on the road 77-71. Seniors Marqus Blakely (Metuchen, N.J.) and Maurice Joseph (Montreal, Quebec) each added 17 apiece in the first game of the Legends Classic on Sunday, as the Cats improve to 2-1 on the year.

VERMONT MEN’S BASKETBALL NOTEBOOK
The Vermont men's basketball team opens an eight-day, five-game road trip on Sunday when it travels to face Rutgers (1-0, 0-0 Big East) at 4 p.m. as part of the 2009 Legends Classic. The game marks the first of two straight against Big East opponents, as it will also be the first meeting in men’s basketball between the Cats and Scarlet Knights. Vermont (1-1, 0-0 America East) will look to carry over the momentum from its first victory of the season at Buffalo last Sunday.
