Introduction

This e-book was developed to provide students with a basic understanding of approaches used to estimate and monitor wild populations.  Though we do not cover sampling design issues directly, readers should spend time learning about the benefits and pitfalls of different designs.  Some good sources of information about sampling designs and estimation are:
