The Rubenstein School Student Advisory Board (SAB) is a governmental organization with the mission to represent the needs, interests, and perspectives of the student body. We serve as a common for all students, faculty, and staff to provide input on Rubenstein School policy, curriculum, and operation.
This year, we worked with Marie Vea-Fagnant, Margaret Burke, and the Core Curriculum Committee to assess core rubrics and syllabi and plan academic feedback systems with every core course. Throughout the fall semester we worked on reviewing components of the core curriculum revitalization process and providing advisory feedback. This spring semester, we presented our work to faculty at the Core Curriculum Symposium, a special combined SAB/Core Curriculum Committee meeting and the January faculty meeting. These efforts have helped to increase transparency between the SAB and faculty and enhance perspective on our work and endeavors.
In addition, SAB representatives joined the Rubenstein School Community and Sustainability Committee to put on March’s “Products of Mind, Heart, and Hands” event. Currently, we are in the process of planning a survey for students in NR 1 and NR 2 to gather students' input on their academic experience with the core.
In the future, we hope to continue to raise awareness about the SAB within the Rubenstein School through our recently acquired bulletin board and work more with the student body, faculty, and staff to continue to improve Rubenstein School academia.
