Hello Rubenstein School,

We are the Rubenstein Stewards, a group of undergraduates dedicated to building community and supporting students as they prepare to graduate. This includes interacting with prospective students, helping undergraduates prepare for life in and outside of the university, connecting with the Dean’s Office to provide a student’s voice, and organizing events to bring together all of the Rubenstein School community.

This semester has been full of exciting events in the Rubenstein School. We hosted an event for Valentine’s Day called Rubenstein Love where the community gathered in the Solarium to create Valentines for each other. There were many creative and thoughtful messages delivered throughout the School!

Get Your Life Together Week was another wonderful event which included several workshops and panels. We had week-long resume workshop sign-ups where our office in Aiken 219 was open for resume review. There are still opportunities to sign up for resume reviews at our office. Over brunch, several graduate students also gave advice to undergraduates about the various pathways and processes to grad school, what it’s like being a graduate student, and what their research involves. Pancakes with Professionals was another event during this week which focused on connecting students with professionals in the environmental consulting career. Students gathered with pancakes and maple syrup to network with these professionals about their career path and tips on getting into the field. To tie up the week, we had Snacks with the Stewards at which we had a therapy dog, snacks, tea, merchandise for sale, and crafts!

Upcoming events include another panel for Pancakes with Professionals focusing on careers in research. This will take place on Tuesday, April 18th at 5:30pm in Aiken 103. In conjunction with Earth Week and Arbor Day, we’re having a special edition of Snacks with Stewards called Stories with the Stewards at noon on Friday, April 21st in the Solarium. During this event, our own Dean Nancy Mathews and Assistant Dean Marie Vea-Fagnant will be reading environmental literature along with other students, staff, and faculty. If you are interested in reading an original poem or a favorite piece, you can sign up on the door outside the Stewards Office or online.

Finally, we are very excited to announce the unveiling of our RSENR Community Celebration! This event will be an opportunity to come together with food, awards, music, raffle prizes, and more. It will take place on Monday, May 8th at 5:30pm in the Sugar Maple Ballroom in the Davis Center. Look for an email soon about the opening of ticket sales. We hope to see many of you there!
