1997

Hilary Cooley (RM ’97) recently took an exciting new position with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as the Grizzly Bear Recovery Program Coordinator for the lower 48 states, based in Missoula, MT. Read more. 

Previously, Hilary worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Marine Mammals Management as the lead for the Polar Bear Program, which focuses on polar bear research in Alaska, international coordination and management, and implementation of the Endangered Species Act and Marine Mammal Protection Act mandates, including recovery planning and reducing human-bear conflict. Hilary received her M.S. (2004) and Ph.D. (2008) in Wildlife Management at Washington State University, where her research focused on mountain lions. She then moved to Idaho and worked as a wolf biologist for Idaho Department of Fish and Game and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. 

 

2002

Gretchen Nareff (WFB) is excited to share the news that she has started a new job as Fish and Wildlife Biologist with the US Fish and Wildlife Service in their Ecological Services Field Office in Corpus Christi, TX. She writes, “The last time I was in that part of the country was on a trip with (Professor) David Hirth and our Spring Break ornithology class in 2002!" This March, Gretchen met up with now retired Dave Hirth AND with the Spring Break 2017 Texas class now led by Professor Allan Strong!

 

2012

Lee Simard (ENSC, MS-NR ’16) successfully defended his thesis with advisor Fisheries Professor Ellen Marsden in December 2016. He has accepted a long-term position as a Fisheries Biologist with the Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife in Springfield.

 

2016

Carrie Kozel (MS-NR), who successfully defended her thesis with advisor Fisheries Professor Ellen Marsden in December 2016, has accepted a position as a Fisheries Technician with the US Fish and Wildlife Service in Michigan.
