Simon Jorgenson

Assistant Professor, UVM College of Education

Dr. Simon Jorgenson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Education. Previously, he worked as a classroom teacher and Instructor for the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). Currently, he teaches courses in social studies education and science education and serves as a field supervisor for pre-service teachers. His courses are designed around John Dewey's experiential approach to teaching and learning. As a researcher, he is interested in the convergence of K-12 STEM education and environmental education. He is also interested in teachers' lived experiences, including how they understand and enact educational policies. His dissertation examined environmental projects at two specialized STEM schools in a state recognized for its innovative approach to STEM education policy.
