One Saturday during the first year of the Green Forestry Education Initiative, a group of community members came to raise a tipi at the Jericho Research Forest.  People stayed long after the tipi was raised and others had left. Everyone enjoyed the fire and each other’s company. It was decided that this low-key event – with an informal seminar-style program, food, and fire – should be a regular monthly event.

So, it has become a tradition that on the first Saturday afternoon of every month a Forest Walk and Fire is held at the Jericho Research Forest. Rain or shine, snow or sleet, there will be food, fire, and something to learn.

Check the events calendar for upcoming First Saturday Forest Walk and Fire information.
