I conduct research in the areas of forest ecosystem health and forest entomology. Specifically, I link and synthesize insect host selection behaviors, and tree and insect genetics with landscape level population dynamics of forest insects. I developed and teach three undergraduate courses: 1) Forest Ecosystem Health, 2) Food, Land Use and Biodiversity and 3) an international field courses: Alternative Summer Break: Desert Biome Practicum in Environment, Arts, and Peace-Building in Israel. I initiated and lead the Terrestrial Ecosystem Health group at UVM. I mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students and undergraduate interns.
