Areas of Interest
Small scale agricultural systems
Bryne is aiding in research on land-cover and land-use change in Malawi, with a focus on small-scale agricultural systems. She is interested in using remote sensing to identify and better understand changes in crop productivity in order to inform governmental policy. Her undergraduate experience included research involving remote sensing and microscopy, as well as lab work in immunology and stable isotope geochemistry. In Chicago, her hometown, she became interested in small-scale agriculture following an internship with a local non-profit focused on urban agriculture in poor neighborhoods. As a Midwesterner born and raised (and educated), Bryne can't wait to explore New England and finally learn to ski.
