Alumni Notes - May 2014
- By Shari Halik
Class of 2012
Michael Grubert (ENVS) just completed a Master of Environmental Management program at Duke University. He concentrated in energy and the environment, and his master's project looked into the economic and energy sector impacts of water regulations on the shale industry.
Class of 2013
Laura Keir (MS-NR) is working as a planner at the Rutland Regional Planning Commission, and living in Middlebury. She is learning lots about planning, particularly emergency management, and continuing with her passion for engaging citizens in environmental decision-making. Laura is also excited to start building a mobile “tiny house” (8 feet wide by 20 feet long) this summer with her partner, Jeremy Brosnahan. Laura has recently had two articles from her graduate research published: "Environmental justice and citizen perceptions of a proposed electric transmission line" in Community Development (coauthored with Richard Watts and Shoshanah Inwood, published online March 21, 2014), and "Conflict assessment in energy infrastructure siting: Prospects for consensus building in the Northern Pass transmission line project" in Negotiation Journal (coauthored with Saleem H. Ali, April 2014).
A note to all SNR and RSENR alumni: Please submit your updates so we can include regular Alumni Notes in our quarterly School enewsletter.
If anyone has a Summer Camp photo of the entire group, please contact Joanna Birbeck (FOR '84) at firstname.lastname@example.org and send her a scanned copy, if possible. Joanna has volunteered to collect as many Summer Camp photos as we can to put onto the School alumni pages.
