Rubenstein School Dean Search Update

The Rubenstein School began its national search for a new Dean in the fall of 2013.  There has been a great deal of excitement over the past several months as the School community hosted four external candidates vying for the leadership position.  RSENR students, staff, faculty, and advisers, as well as UVM officials and colleagues were fully engaged in the interview process over the 2-day visit arranged for each candidate.

The UVM President, in consultation with the Provost, will officially appoint the new Dean after considering feedback from the search committee and individuals from RSENR and the campus who participated in the interview process.  Jon Erickson will continue to serve as Interim Dean until the new dean arrives.

Dr. Hugo John, who retired from UVM in 1983, was the last School leader to come from outside UVM after a national search. Since then, Deans Larry Forcier, Don DeHayes and Mary Watzin were successful internal candidates after national and internal searches.

The start date for the new dean is yet to be announced with anticipation that the new dean will open the fall 2014 semester.
