This fall, Deb Markowitz, Secretary of the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources, and Patrick Berry, Commissioner of the Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife, visited the Rubenstein School to meet with the RSENR community. The Aiken Center conference room was filled to standing-room-only for both occasions. Students, staff, and faculty had lively discussions about ways to enhance ties between the Agency and the School.

Both Secretary Markowitz and Commissioner Berry discussed the wave of impending staff retirements in the Agency and the opportunities to hire college graduates.  Deb Markowitz also emphasized that the State and the School can connect through research and science and use scientific data to make decisions and guide policy at the state-level.  Secretary Markowitz and Commissioner Berry are interested in establishing internships for Rubenstein undergraduate or graduate students.

These visits follow last spring’s sessions with Commissioner of Vermont’s Department of Environmental Conservation David Mears and Commissioner of Vermont’s Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation Michael Snyder, an alum of the School. Read the news story about last spring's visits.
