Goals/Project Description:
A number of teachers from Edmunds Elementary School
attended a summer workshop on Electronic Portfolios that was offered
through the PT3 grant. Many of these teachers work at Edmunds
Elementary School. These teachers requested a mentor to help them
reinforce the skills they learned during the workshop.

Amanda Bathalon
Amanda Bathalon is one of three mentors assigned to Edmunds Elementary. Her
goal is to work with a variety of teachers who will use the school's computer
lab during regularly scheduled times. In her role as mentor, Amanda will serve
as a model for classroom teachers to demonstrate how technology can be integrated
in the curriculum. Amanda has taught one class how to use HyperStudio and she
is working with Donna Iverson to create iMovies about teachers in their school.

Sherrol Farnham
Sherrol works in the computer lab with several teachers who are scheduled to
use the computer lab. Her goal is to assist teachers with technology projects. Sherrol
has helped the art teacher scan hand-drawn images and imported then into
HyperStudio so that the students could add color to the designs. These
images depict state symbols used in the US states. Sherrol is combining
these to create a slide show.

Goals/Project Description:
Brent Truchon is a teacher on the Navigator Team
at Edmunds Middle School. He requested a student mentor to
help him with a number of projects -- refining a class web
site that he started during the summer of 2002 in a PT3 workshop
on electronic portfolios, creating a student portfolio web
site, and integrating technology into curricular areas such
as science and social studies.
Christine Vinton has been working with Mr. Truchon
to help him achieve these goals. She has taken his initial
web site design and reworked it to link to the school's web
site.
Christine is now working with Mr. Truchon to
develop a site where students will post their best pieces.
Christine will also teach a class about Antartica
using a webquest that she developed as an assignment in the
Inquiry Block course taught by Professor Joe Abruscato.

Goals/Project Description:
Molly Superchi will work with several Edmunds Middle School teachers
each week. Ginger Farineau, the living arts teacher, is interested
in seeing how she can better integrate technology into her classroom.
Earle Dunphy is the speech/language teacher at the school. Last
year, Mr. Dunphy created a website to support teachers in learnign
more about students wiht special needs. This year, Mr. Dunphy wants
to improve this site and make it more useful for both students
and parents.
Carol Renca is the school's librarian. Molly will assist Ms. Renca
in the library media cetner and will be available to assist teachers
who want to work in teh computer lab located in the library.

Goals/Project Description:
Several Hunt middle schools teachers were interested in working with a PT3
Student Mentor this year on a variety of projects. To meet this request,
Kristen Cioffi works at the school one day a week and meets with each teacher
at different times of the day.
Melody Daigle is working with Kristen to locate Internet
resources to enhance her students's learning. She also wants Kristen
to teach her more about Microsoft Word and other programs recently
acquired by the school.
Joy Kipp, the art teacher, will work with Kristen
to help her students scan their art work and publish it online. Ms.
Kipp is also interested in learning how to use Powerpoint.
Mr. Rock has created a web site and he is seeking
Kristen's support to help him improve his site. Mr. Rock started
this project during the summer of 2002 when he participated in
a PT3 workshop on electronic portfolios.

Goals/Project Description:
Teachers at Orchard School have been enthusiastic about the opportunity
to work with Ashley Steele, a student mentor who worked at
Orchard during the spring
semester. Requests range from working with small groups of students in the
school's library media center to one-to-one instruction on creating web pages
or learning new software. Each semester, Ashley spends approximately eight
hours a week at Orchard over several days. Each day she works with different
students or teachers.

During the Spring 2003 semester, projects include Internet
research, use of paint programs for image creation, Powerpoint presentations

document schoolwide events.

Goals/Project Description:
Molly's goal for the semester is to work with several Orchard
teachers to help them integrate technology into their classrooms
and to strengthen their
use of technology for personal productivity and curriculum integration. She
will work with teachers to help them learn multimedia software (such as
HyperStudio) and to create classroom or professional web pages. Molly
will assist classroom teachers in various technology projects that
relate to curriculum projects/goals. In addition, she is assisting
the guidance
teacher to create a digital video movie that will be used as part of
the school's kindergarten orientation program.

At Orchard School, the library media center is the hub for
technology. Classes
visit the library weekly to work with the computers that are located here. To
assist teachers and students who bring their classes to use the computers, Will
Clark has been hired to assist Mrs. MacDonald, the librarian, with the variety
of requests that result. Will helps students with word processing, Internet
research, keyboarding software, and with web page creation. |
F.H. Tuttle Middle School

Goals/Project Description:
Jay Hoffman is the technology education teacher at Tuttle Middle
Schools. He
was interested in having a student mentor in this classroom to help him integrate
technology related activities with small groups of students. Tim Kuehn, a
senior, was interested in undertaking this project to earn independent study
credit hours. They agreed that Tim would undertake a hydroponics unit with
two groups of students. Tim was responsible for setting up the equipment,
instructing the students on plantings, watering, nutrition, and general observations
concening plant growth. Students are tracking the progress of their plants
by observing and collecting data, creating a Powerpoint slide show on designing
a hydroponic project, and eventually will publish their results in a web
site linked to the school's home page.

Goals/Project Description:
Kristin works with Karola Martin to provide one on one assistance to students
using computerized pianos. She works with students as they compose pieces
on both the computerized pianos as well as the computers with music software
(Music Ace and Digital Orchestrator). She additionally guides students
through chord progression and basic music theory using musical software
programs. Kristin works with both middle school and high school students.
