Research Projects on Women in Love, and Music |
|
In this study both physiological and subjective sexual arousal are measured while watching a sexually explicit video. Urine and saliva samples are taken, and participants complete questionnaires on anxious situations while listening to music.

Oral Contraceptives and Their Effects on Sexual Desire |
|
Over one month, come in during the first week of a new pack or new ring of oral contraceptives (visit 1). You will be given a physiological and subjective assessment of sexual arousal while recalling a sexual fantasy. Saliva samples are taken, and a questionnaire and a brief interview are given. You will also be asked to complete a daily questionnaire for 2½ weeks. During the third week of the pack or ring you will come in for a repeat of visit 1.

Mechanisms for Risky Sex and Relationship Adjustment |
|
Three saliva samples are taken. While watching sexually explicit videos both physiological and subjective sexual arousal are measured. On Day One, you will answer several questionnaires. On Day Two, you will also be interviewed.

Coping with Rural Community HIV Stigma: Sexual Behavior and Psychological Well-Being |
|
This is a longitudinal study. Participants will visit the Person Environment Zone Projects research site at the University of Vermont 3 times over a 6 month period (every 90 days). During their first visit, participants will complete a variety of questionnaires about their experiences with HIV/AIDS stigma, their perceptions of their community, their experience with relationships, how they cope with stress, about their sexual behavior, and about their psychological health. Participants will also call an automated IVR phone-in diary to report their experiences every day for 7 days after their first visit.

| Compensation: |
Compensation for participating in our research is determined by the time of your visit (Time 1 = $40, Time 2 = $50, Time3 = $60), the distance you travel to our research site ($0.55 per mile plus $12.50 for every 50 miles, round trip), and your completion of the IVR phone-in diary ($10 for each day you complete a call, plus a bonus $15 if you complete all seven days in a row). Total compensation could be as much as $235 plus travel.

Kindergarten Transition Study |
| This study looks at how children make the transition into kindergarten. Kindergarten is typically a child's first foray into formal schooling and we are interested in comparing the experiences of children in this situation to the experiences from a study of the same participants then they were toddlers. Child temperament is also assessed. | |
