- By A. Elizabeth Wilkins
The celebration was on Wednesday, September 28th at the UVM Waterman Manor on the UVM Campus.
“The celebration of the name change of our training clinic in the department of psychological science was a huge success and attended by over 100 people – attracting former students, colleagues, and family members from across the country. The re-naming and festivities were planned to honor the 1972 founder of the clinic, Dr. Harold Leitenberg. The shared stories and memories revealed some of the most important and enduring aspects of graduate t raining; the relationship between mentor and mentee, professor and student, supervisor and therapist in training. Past and current students spoke about Dr. Leitenberg and his strong dedication to his students in both research and clinical capacities. His respect, care, and genuine joy in working alongside student clinicians and researchers was inspiring. It is clear that Dr. Leitenberg has made a lasting impact on the development of countless graduate students in clinical psychology.”
