BOOKS AVAILABLE IN BAILEY/HOWE (not on reserve)

·  Soil Chemistry, 2nd ed. Bohn, McNeil, and O'Connor- old course text, succinct

·  Advances in Soil Organic Matter Research- recent compilation covering current research.

·  Humic Substances in Soil, Sediment, and Water; (Aiken et al., eds.)- good source on many aspects of humified materials.

·  Minerals in Soil Environments, 1st ed.- discussion of many types of minerals and their basic structure.

·  The Chemistry of Soil Processes- a textbook from English authors.

·  Soil Chemistry and Its Applications; Cresser, Killham and Edwards-

·  Soil Conditions and Plant Growth, 11th ed.- a classic source that often has satisfying explanations.

·  Soil Physical Chemistry- probably more than you want to know.

·  Chemistry in the Soil Environment- proceedings of a symposium, contains many good viewpoints.

·  Adsorption Phenomena- a compilation of "classic" journal articles covering adsorption.

·  Chemistry of Soil Solutions- another compilation of "classic" journal articles.

·  Chemical Equilibria in Soils- useful if trying to apply thermodynamics to natural systems.

AVAILABLE FROM DON ROSS

·  Minerals in Soil Environments, 2nd ed.

·  Chemistry in the Soil Environment

·  Soil Chemistry

·  Environmental Chemistry of Soils, M.B. McBride--course text from 1995

·  Principles of Soil Chemistry, 2nd ed.- another basic soil chemistry book.

·  The Surface Chemistry of Soils- G. Sposito's interesting approach for the brave.

·  Soil Acidity and Liming- good discussion of the chemistry of acid soils.

·  The Mineralogy, Chemistry, and Physics of Tropical Soils with Variable Charge Clays-good presentation of variable charge.

·  Plant-Soil Interactions at Low pH- Proceeding from the second and third international symposiums of the same name. Rather large, but contains some good material.

·  Soil Survey Laboratory Methods Manual- Brand new from Soil Conservation Service. Covers most everything.

·  Methods of Soil Analysis, Parts 1 and 2- Invaluable source from the Soil Science Society of America.

·  Soil Sampling and Methods of Analysis- Canadian version of above.

·  Soil Chemical Analysis- M.L. Jackson's revered treatment of the subject. Old but extremely useful in that he already figured out most everything.

·  Aquatic Chemistry, 2nd ed.- Classic text and good source of confusion.
