Current Eligibility Requirements for Post-Retirement Medical Benefits (PRMB)

The following PRMB eligibility requirements are based on age and years of service.

Full-Time Non-Represented Staff, Teamsters and UE Members,
Non-Represented College of Medicine Faculty and Officers of Administration

Those with a Benefit Service Date Prior to July 1, 1992:

You must be at least 55 with 10 years continuous employment to be eligible for full post-retirement benefits. You will qualify for continuation of medical, dental and life insurance benefits if you were eligible for them at the time of your retirement. If you were eligible but not enrolled at retirement, you may enroll at any Open Enrollment or within twenty days of a qualifying life change event.

Those with a Benefit Service Date from July 1, 1992 to June 30, 1997:

You must be at least 55 with 10 years continuous full-time employment to be eligible for post-retirement medical benefits. You will not, however, be eligible for full University contributions to your medical coverage unless the total of your years of service and your age at the time of retirement is 75 or greater. You will qualify for continuation of medical, dental and life insurance benefits if you were eligible for them at the time of your retirement. If you were eligible but not enrolled at retirement, you may enroll at any Open Enrollment or within twenty days of a qualifying life change event.

Those with a Benefit Service Date from July 1, 1997 to December 31, 2011:

You must be at least 60 with 15 years of continuous full-time employment to be eligible for full post-retirement benefits. You will qualify for continuation of medical, dental and life insurance benefits if you were eligible for them at the time of your retirement. If you were eligible but not enrolled at retirement, you may enroll at any Open Enrollment or within twenty days of a qualifying life change event.

Part-Time Non-Represented Staff, Teamsters and UE Members,
Non-Represented College of Medicine Faculty and Officers of Administration

Those with a Benefit Service Date from July 1, 1997 to December 31, 2011:

You must be at least 60 with 15 years of continuous part-time employment of at least 50% FTE to be eligible for part-time post-retirement benefits. You will qualify for continuation of medical, dental and life insurance benefits if you were enrolled in them at the time of your retirement. If you were eligible but not enrolled at retirement, you may enroll at any Open Enrollment or within twenty days of a qualifying life change event.

UA Full-Time Bargaining Unit Members

Those with a Benefit Service Date BEFORE July 1, 1997:

You must be at least 55 with 10 years of continuous employment in benefits groups A, B, C or D to be eligible for post-retirement benefits. You will qualify for continuation of medical, dental and life insurance benefits if you were eligible for them at the time of your retirement. If you were eligible but not enrolled at retirement, you may enroll at any Open Enrollment or within twenty days of a qualifying life change event.

Those with a Benefit Service Date from July 1, 1997 to December 31, 2011:

You must be at least 60 with 15 years of continuous employment in benefits groups A, B, C or D to be eligible for post-retirement benefits. You will qualify for continuation of medical, dental and life insurance benefits if you were eligible for them at the time of your retirement. If you were eligible but not enrolled at retirement, you may enroll at any Open Enrollment or within twenty days of a qualifying life change event.

Post-Doctoral Associates and Post-Doctoral Fellows/Trainees

Post-Doctoral Associates and Post-Doctoral Fellows/Trainees are not eligible for Post-Retirement Medical Benefits.
