Re: College of Arts and Sciences Interim Dean Appointment - Dr. Joel Goldberg
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Joel Goldberg as interim Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. He begins his work as interim Dean today, marking a seamless transition with outgoing Dean Eleanor Miller.
Dr. Goldberg, Associate Professor of Chemistry, joined the UVM faculty in 1982, following completion of his doctoral degree in analytical chemistry at the University of Michigan. He has served the University of Vermont in a number of capacities, including service as co-coordinator of the Environmental Sciences Program and as Associate Dean in the College. Dr. Goldberg’s experience in the College has been comprehensive in scope and of exemplary quality. We are confident that he will bring effective leadership to the College, that he will maintain the momentum established for the College under Dean Miller’s leadership, and that he will be a strong contributor to the advance of University strategic initiatives.
We are deeply appreciative of Dr. Goldberg’s willingness to serve as interim Dean. We call on our colleagues across the campus—especially those in the College itself—to join us in supporting Joel Goldberg in the critical work he is undertaking for the students, faculty, staff, and alumni of the College and for all of us. Thank you.
