Academic Ceremonies - Convocation
Sunday, August 28
6:00 pm, (doors open at 5:15 pm)
All faculty are invited to attend the 2011 Convocation Ceremony. The event is free and open to the public. Tickets are not necessary.
Reserved seating will be available for faculty; there will not be an academic procession.
Immediately following the Convocation Ceremony, the campus community is invited to attend the Class of 2015 Twilight Induction Ceremony on the University Green. The Taiko Drummers will set the pace along the parade route from Patrick Gym, down Main Street, to the Green. In the event of inclement weather, the Induction Ceremony will take place in Patrick Gymnasium.
Following the Twilight Induction Ceremony, join UVM alumni, faculty, staff and students under the tent on the CBW Green at a reception hosted by the Alumni Association to celebrate our newest community members. Enjoy Chester's Ice Cream sandwiches and mingle with the Class of 2015. In the event of inclement weather, the reception will take place in the Multipurpose Facility.
Summer Reading Program: This year students are reading “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” by Rebecca Skloot (required for first-year students). Unfortunately, Ms. Skloot’s schedule does not permit her to attend the convocation Ceremony. She will, however, be on campus on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. at the Ira Allen Chapel to address the university community.
For more information about Convocation, please contact Leslie Logan, Chief of Protocol and Administrator of University Events, at 656-4205 or by email to: Academic_Ceremonies@uvm.edu.
