Academic Ceremonies - Convocation
Sunday, August 30, 6:00 pm, Patrick Gymnasium
Guest Speaker: Tracy Kidder, author of “Mountains Beyond Mountains”
Please note change in venue. Author signing: Mr. Kidder will be available to sign copies of his book following the Twilight Induction Ceremony at 8:30 pm in Henderson's Café on the 3rd floor of the Davis Center.
Faculty are invited to attend and participate in the 2009 Convocation Ceremony. The ceremony will begin with the procession of the platform party, led by James W. Burgmeier, University Marshal and President of the Faculty Senate, with the Pipes and Drums of Saint Andrew's Society of Vermont. Earlier information was distributed to faculty indicating that there would be the traditional faculty procession. In the interest of keeping the Convocation ceremony to an hour, we have since decided that only the platform party will process. Faculty will be provided special seating.
Please Note: The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. From August 23 through August 30, faculty and staff (with UVM ID) may pick up tickets at the Hoffman Information Desk on the third floor of the Dudley H. Davis Center.
Following the Convocation Ceremony, the campus community is invited to attend the Class of 2013 Twilight Induction Ceremony on the University Green (7:30 - 8:30 pm). The Taiko Drummers will set the pace along the parade route from Patrick Gym, down Main Street, to the green. In the event of inclement weather, the Induction Ceremony will take place in Patrick Gymnasium.
