The 26th President of the University of Vermont
Benefits Cost Share Update
Deadline for Feedback is Friday, February 28
- By Rodman W. Cory
In an important development, the administration communicated prior to the February 20 UBAC meeting that as a result of a variety of factors including input from faculty and staff, cost sharing formulas for Dependent Tuition Remission and the Retirement Savings Plan are at this time no longer part of this cost share discussion. That means that the focus of dialogue is now on the question of adjusting the cost share formulas for medical coverage alone.
The University Benefits Advisory Council hosted Benefits Cost Share open forums to hear from faculty and staff on February 10 and 13, and also invited feedback at their February 20 Council meeting. In addition to the input shared at these meetings, they have received many comments via e-mail from faculty and staff.
The presentation from the February 20 UBAC meeting has been posted on the Benefits Cost Share website along with the slides from the February 13 open forum. The presentation includes the guiding principles being used by UBAC to think about benefits, themes emerging from the feedback received, and a variety of scenarios related to health insurance cost share.
Faculty and Staff are invited to read the information on the Benefits Cost Share website and express their thoughts on this topic by midnight on Friday, February 28. All feedback received (minus personal identifying information) will become part of the final report delivered to the President in early March. Share your thoughts in writing as follows:
