UVM Police Services
Welcome to the Campus Security Authority (CSA) Information Portal
Certain employees, known as Campus Security Authorities (CSA), have a legal obligation to file a report with University Police Services of suspected criminal activity using the Campus Security Authority Reporting Form to ensure statistical inclusion of all crimes specified by the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (“Clery Act”) in the University’s Annual Security Report when those crimes occur on or near University Property, including on-campus property, property immediately adjacent to the campus, and off-campus property owned or controlled by the University.
As outlined in the University’s Campus Security Authority Operating Procedure, CSAs are:
- Members of the University of Vermont Department of Police Services;
- Any individual responsible for security who is not a member of the UVM Department of Police Services (for example, individuals responsible for monitoring entrances to buildings or specified areas are responsible for security); and
- A University official who has significant responsibility for student and campus activities, including, but not limited to, student housing, student discipline and campus judicial proceedings, coaches and coaching staff, advisors to recognized student organizations.
If you are unsure of whether you are a CSA, please contact your dean, director or department head, or contact Lianne M. Tuomey, Chief/Director of Police Services at Lianne.Tuomey@uvm.edu.
If an alleged victim wishes to file a police report, please advise and assist them to contact UVM Police Services directly at (802) 656-3473. If you believe there is an immediate or ongoing threat to the safety of an individual(s), always call 911.
Note: Filing a CSA Reporting Form does not take the place of contacting UVM Police Services and filing a police report. These forms are used to help to inform whether a timely warning or emergency notification to the campus community is warranted; to allow Police Services to optimize the safety of our campus community; to ensure proper statistical inclusion of reported crimes in the University’s Annual Report, in compliance with federal law.
