UVM Police K-9 Officer Dozer retired from service in 2014.
The University of Vermont Police had a K-9 program from 2007-2014. The first K-9 team was Officer Chris Hunter and his partner, Dozer, a tracking and drug detection Black Labrador, made up this unit.
A new handler joined Dozer in 2009, Officer Bobby Bailey. Bobby and Dozer began an intense training program in the spring of 2009. The team received certification by the North American Police Work Dog Association for Drug Detection in November of 2009. Also in November, the team was certified by the Vermont Criminal Justice Training Council in both Tracking and Drug Detection.
Officer Bailey and Dozer patrolled the UVM Community and responded to calls for assistance by surrounding police agencies.
