In fact, there are only 4 dates left, so don't miss out! This is also just about the mid-way point in the semester. It's important to incorporate fun stuff along the way and we have Halloween to look forward to at the end of the month. Check out these ghoulish recipes apartment therapy collected for Halloween. A message from your little Burlington neighbors! Help your friends stay safe and be good neighbors by:
  • being aware of walk-by noise (voices carry, especially in the colder autumn air)
  • being respectful of the Burlington neighborhoods you call home
  • taking advantage of safe transportation options, like the off-campus shuttle service

Male Student Leaders at the University of Vermont Unite to Educate Peers about Seuxal Assault and Rape

Students here on campus have founded an all-male sexual assault prevention peer education group. Their name, "One in Four," comes from the statistic that one in four college women has survived rape or attempted rape at some point in her lifetime.

Their debut presentation, also called The Men’s Program, is geared toward males and provides the knowledge and tools to support a survivor. The workshop also teaches bystander skills so that individuals can safely intervene if they see a potential rape about to occur. Join us in launching 1 in 4 as UVM’s newest sexual assault prevention group on Monday, October 27 at 7:00 pm in Fleming 101!

Viral Voting Video

Who knew a video aimed at getting people to participate in mid-term elections could go viral? Rock the Vote!, which describes itself as "the largest non-profit and non-partisan organization in the United States driving the youth vote to the polls", released a video that did just that. If you are interested in local voter registration efforts, UVM's Leadership and Civic Engagement has a great website to help you.

And hey, wondering why they're called mid-term elections? Here you go.
