July 2015

It's July and Summer weather is finally here! High humidity and high temperatures mean safety concerns. This month we are bringing you information on avoiding health risks related to extreme heat, bike safety (for drivers, riders and bike owners alike), and information on a great class this Fall. Hard to believe but the Fall semester starts in a few weeks! We look forward to seeing you on campus again.

Bike Safety

In addition to bike safety on the road, make sure to keep you bike safe when you are out on the town. Summer traditionally brings a huge spike in bicycle thefts. Here are some recent tips from WCAX and Seven Days. It is actually possible to recover a stolen bike if you have done some key things. One of them is registering your bike with UVM Police online.

New Roommates?

So it is mid-July and if you just started living with new roommates on June 1st, the honeymoon might be coming to an end right about now. But before you resign yourself to a horrible year, think about these tips from Apartment Therapy for keeping the peace.

You can also contact us if you need help with facilitating a difficult conversation with a roommate. We do conflict resolution sessions all the time. The #1 thing people say after a session is "I wish I had done this right when the problem started instead of being angry/uncomfortable for the entire semester". Don't let issues drag on and intensify, let us help you keep the peace.

Beat The Heat

Hot weather can be dangerous to your health! The CDC put out this infographic to help you stay safe as the temperature and humidity climb. Which this Summer hasn't been that often. But click on the image to see the full infographic.
