Study Abroad Approved Programs

What is an 'Approved' Program?

An approved program is one in which a previous UVM student has participated, or a program similar to one in which a UVM student has participated, for which some academic credit has transferred back to UVM. Please be sure to do your research carefully: While credit from a program may transfer for students in one major, or even a minor, at UVM, credit may not be eligible to transfer for all majors or minors. Additionally, please note that with a list of more than 900 study abroad sites, it is impossible for UVM staff to assess all aspects of an individual site. As such, it is important that you ask good questions of program providers regarding safety, cultural immersion opportunities, and other programmatic aspects about which you and your families have goals and expectations.

Please Note:

The University of Vermont is beginning a review of our approved programs list. You are strongly encouraged to follow the study abroad process time line and not apply to any program unless you have already met with a study abroad regional advisor. As of January 20, Wisdom Tours programs to the following destinations are no longer eligible for academic credit at the University of Vermont: Bhutan, Cambodia, India, Nepal, Tibet. Questions? Please contact study abroad assistant director Linda Damon.
