Notes Information and Expectations

Note Taking Services Request

In order to receive notes, you must meet with your ACCESS specialist at the beginning of each semester.

You must complete the Note Taking Request Form (you can also request eBooks here)

You must give your accommodation letter to each faculty member you wish to receive accommodations from.

Receiving the Accommodation

By receiving a note taking accommodation, students should recognize and agree with the following.

  • ACCESS students to receive a note taking accommodation must hand in their ACCESS Accommodation Letter provided by their ACCESS specialist to each professor they need accommodations from.
  • Upon giving their letter to each faculty member, students are expected to discuss their accommodations with them.
  • Securing a peer note taker usually takes between 1-3 weeks.
  • Towards the end of the semester, a new request for notes may not be able to be fulfilled.
  • Students receiving notes may NOT share the notes with anyone besides educational instructors such as your professor, or supplemental academic resources such as tutors, writing center staff etc.

If you requested a note taking accommodation and you are concerned because no note taker has been found, it is your responsibility to follow up with your professor and notes@uvm.edu

If notes fall more than 1 week behind, it is the ACCESS student's responsibility to contact notes@uvm.edu and let them know.

  • Students should contact the note taking team at notes@uvm.edu if they have any issues with notes.
    • Examples of issues may be:
      • Can't access notes database (if this is true, make sure you filled out the Note Taking Services Request Form)
